After 6 years of marriage, my husband's Muscular Dystrophy diagnosis and subsequent physical decline, my gastric bypass surgery, depression, and apparent infertility, this is where I find my new normal.
Just wanted to let you know and thank you for your help...because we have raised all the money we need to buy this van for my husband Bob. He will be going with his sister on Monday to sign the papers and officially buy the van. Thursday he will be going to have a modification put in that will allow him to drive it from his wheelchair. Then he will go and get tabs and registration for it. I cannot believe it. It seemed impossible and yet here we are, ready to accept ownership of this vehicle we have needed for so long and are finally privileged enough to own. Thank you so much for all of you who gave to the Bob Mobility Fund. You will never know what your gift means to me or Bob. For him to be able to just get in a car and go...that is HUGE! This means he can go to doctor's appointments all by himself. This means he can go visit his friend in the nursing home. This means he pick up and go fishing...just because it's the perfect day for fishing. This means he won't be late for anything because he has to wait for Metro Mobility to pick him up. This means he won't have to cancel an appointment or reschedule because Metro Mobility can't pick him up. This means he can come have lunch with me and I don't have to meet him in the lobby in order to push his manual wheelchair. This means he can pretty much go anywhere and do anything. Thank you. This means the world to me but it IS the world to Bob.
